Pedagogically Sound Games

Published by felix.kronenberg@gmail.com on

There’s an annual competition and price in Germany for pedagogically sound games, called the “Pädi.” Not all these games are good for language learning, of course, but it’s an interesting list to look at. There are two age categories, one for children and one for teenagers.

One social game I particularly liked is called Geräusche-Quiz. It is a free Jeopardy-style game in which four people or groups listen to sounds from different categories, which they have to guess. The moderator, which could be a student as well, distributes points. It’s completely in German, and I look forward to playing it with my German 202 next semester.
