Socrative

Socrative is an enhanced real-time student response system that works on a number of devices. There are others (e.g. Poll Everywhere or Piazza), but I like Socrative because of its ease of use, reliability (at least so far), and its cost (it’s free).

With Socrative, students connect to a instructor created account by entering a unique course ID. Students can answer in real times (true false; multiple choice; short answers; etc.), and the teacher will see the incoming results and may decide to project them. The program is very versatile and currently completely free.

Socrative works on computers and on mobile devices, so it can be deployed easily in various locations. Students can use their own or computer lab equipment. Quizzes can be shared among teachers, and finished quiz results can be automatically e-mailed to the instructor. There are also dedicated apps (free), but they are not necessary; a browser will suffice. Socrative can be used to involve all students in the classroom. Answers are instantaneous, so
the instructor can get immediate feedback.Link: http://www.socrative.com/
