Co-Designing a Formal Learning Space

Published by felix.kronenberg@gmail.com on

What would it look like if you took a very generic classroom (like the one on the photo) and were to completely redesign it? Usually, this is done by professionals who will usually never teach in that classroom. What would it look like if this were to be in a specific discipline?

One of my current projects is exactly that: Looking at such a space and transforming it. Or rather, I am interested in how we can set up parameters so that all stakeholders actually co-design the space and continuously improve, alter, and change it. By stakeholders I mean everyone who has an interest in improving the space: students, teachers, researchers, teacher trainers, support personnel, administrators.

My hope is to capture that process and make the space not only more useful, but also cheaper, more sustainable, and more effective, efficient, and desirable to teach and learn in. More to come soon.
